Insulin Resistance Diet Plan

Insulin resistance diet plan. The individuality of the insulin resistance diet nutrition program is important for improving insulin sensitivity, keeping blood sugar balanced and reaching the ideal weight target.

Breakfast:

  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1 slice of feta cheese
  • Tomatoes – Cucumbers – Greens
  • 5-6 olives or 2 whole walnuts
  • 1-2 slices of whole wheat/ rye/ bran bread

Lunch:

  • 5-6 pieces of sliced tuna salad
  • 1/3 cup cooked rice
  • 1-2 servings of chopped vegetables

Dinner:

  • 1-2 servings of cooked whole grain/ whole grain + grain meal (wheat pasta, quinoa, rice, etc.)
  • a green veggie, 3-4 servings of whole grain fruits
  • 2-3 servings of vegetables

Drinks:

  • a glass of low fat juice
  • some red or green vegetables
  • a few oranges and red wine

After lunch, there are many varied drinks with the main reason being there is much less carbs and sugars in these drinks that the typical diet (ie. white and chocolate) usually includes. The only exception would be low fat milk that may include some skimmed/half and half milk, although milk is very high in carbs as compared to other drinks.

Most of the drinks have no net carbs so you are not getting any added sugar or fat. If you have a special diet or plan that involves some sugar in your food, then it is better to use a variety.

Do not take blood glucose level in the testing laboratory when you are testing with the blood glucose meter. When you test with the blood glucose meter, you may experience blood glucose levels over 150 mg/dl and these blood glucose levels may be greater in the morning.

These days, you are encouraged to take the BG (blood glucose) level in the testing lab during the evening. After lunch, if you have been consuming 2.5-3.5 GPH, you are not too worried, but the blood glucose levels on your monitoring can still be quite high. If you are still experiencing high blood glucose levels, you can take your medication if appropriate. If you are on medications that can make you take excessive amounts of medications, then you need to have your medications checked by your doctor.

If you have diabetes, and your blood sugar levels are much higher than the normal range, you need to be monitored by your diabetes clinic doctor regularly. There are a lot of things we can do, and do, to help lower the number of daily blood glucose levels, including monitoring, and insulin therapy. The best way to check your blood sugar levels is to do the blood glucose test on a regular basis in your normal or lab setting.

Do not take any medications that will cause your blood sugar to rise when you test with the blood glucose meter or glucose read on your monitor. If you have had insulin injections to treat low blood sugar levels during the past 6 months, and your medication does not cause your blood sugar to rise when you test with the glucose meter or read on the monitor, you need to take your medication as soon as possible.

Do not put your insulin injection into your vein unless it is prescribed for you. If you have been on insulin to treat high blood sugar levels, but your medication does not cause your blood sugar to rise when you test with the glucose meter or read on the monitor, you need to remove your medication immediately.

Beware with Sweetened Beverage

Do not use sugar-sweetened drinks before 8 p.m. on nights when you are tested in your normal or lab setting. However, sweetened drink that are available in vending machines can be taken. These drinks can be high in carbohydrates and sugar and should be taken along with other carbohydrates and a low amount of fat.

Don’t Exercise in the Heat

Do not exercise in the heat, which may cause your blood sugar to rise faster and you may have a high blood sugar level. A good tip is to not wear anything hot. Heat and sweat increases your production of insulin which can increase blood sugar levels.

Pay Attention to Runtime

Do not go to work at a work site before 8 p.m. The work day is the most important time for your body to get rid of stored glycogen. If you are not at your work site, you should drink a glass of water before 8 p.m. to help your body get rid of excess fluids. This should prevent you from being fatigued at work. It is possible to lose a lot of weight before 8 p.m. in the day, however, this is not common and can only happen occasionally.
