The liver is particularly affected by fat. It is the primary producer of triacylglycerols, which are the key ingredients in atherosclerosis (arteriosclerosis). For instance, if one avoids fatty foods during the pre and post-menopausal phase of the menstrual cycle, one can prevent ovarian androgen insufficiency, a condition resulting in the overproduction of the androgens and the endocrine disruptor, estrogens.

The diet should be followed according to the guidelines given in the “Precautionary Statement” for the treatment of chronic liver disease, which states that one should avoid fatty foods, high amounts of alcohol, and smoking, with the exception of cigarettes and cigars.
